One photo's journey

Between the moment you upload and the moment the result lands in My try-ons, your photo makes five stops. Here is what happens at each one, and which AI models do the work.

  1. 01UPLOAD

    You upload a photo and the clothes

    An everyday photo of you facing the camera, plus what you want to try on: a screenshot from a shop or a photo of the item laid flat. Add a top, bottoms, shoes and accessories all at once if you like.

  2. 02SAFETY CHECK

    An automatic check comes first

    Every photo goes through an automatic check before anything else. Nudity, minors and anyone made to look like someone else are stopped there: nothing is generated and no quota is used. The check is done by software, and no one looks at your photos.

  3. 03PROMPT

    We write the model its instructions

    Your photos go out together with a short set of instructions. They spell out which picture is the person and which are the clothes, what to change and what to leave alone, so the model doesn't change your face or your pose along with the outfit.

  4. 04GENERATE

    The model generates

    The instructions and photos go to Vertex AI on Google Cloud, where one of Google's image models generates a new photo. It usually takes 10 to 50 seconds.

    All of the models run on Google Cloud. Under Google Cloud's terms, the photos sent for processing aren't used to train models, and we don't use them for that either. The details are in our Privacy Policy.

  5. 05VERIFY & SAVE

    A second check, then into My try-ons

    The result is checked once more and saved to My try-ons only if it passes. Comparing versions, cropping, adjusting colour and adding stickers afterwards mostly happen right in your browser and use no more AI quota.
